Ralph F. Frosty Sweatt, 83, died quietly at his home in Errol, NH with his family by his side on Wednesday November 14, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Errol on February 1, 1935 the sixth child of the late Darwin and Martha Agnes (Frost) Sweatt. He received his education at Colebrook Academy and graduated in 1953. Ralph served in the United States Army and was raised to the degree of Master Mason on April 7, 1966 in Evening Star Lodge # 37 F&AM of Colebrook. Ralph's only hobby was work. He just loved working. After graduating he started driving 18 Wheelers and worked for many different people at the time such as C.R. West, Warren Haynes, Burton Hall, Willie Kenney, Clarence Tiger Gray and Ruben Washburn to name a few. In 1955 Ralph bought his first truck which was a 1954 Diesel Autocar, he bought off Pop Cummins of Colebrook, NH. He started his business, Ralph Sweatt Trucking, in 1961 at his house in Errol, and had a garage built by Homer Beecher of Colebrook, NH. As a kid he helped his mother run the first switchboard telephone in Errol which she ran for 44 years, 24-7, out of their home. When not working he enjoyed riding the back roads of Colebrook with his wife Bunny and his pug Daisy. Members of the family include his wife Elaine Bunny Sweatt of Errol; his children Bradford Sweatt and wife Diane of Errol and Barry Sweatt of Errol; stepchildren Kelly Rayen and husband Chris of Billerica, MA, Billy Letarte Jr. of Masonville, NY and John Letarte and wife Melody of Exeter, RI. Grandchildren: Tiffany Sweatt and husband Kevin of Errol, Russell Sweatt and wife Annie of Denver, CO, Sean Sweatt and Samantha of Berlin, Nathan Fortier of Errol (Ralph proudly taught Nathan how to drive an 18 wheeler), Stephanie Barney of Groveton, Jeremy Nault of Manchester, Kelsey Cordero of Manchester, Tori Letarte of Colebrook, Lexi Letarte of Rumford, ME, Lily Letarte of Masonville, NY, and Esperanza Letarte of Tilton. Great Grandchildren Dakota Flanders, Jazmyn Flanders of Groveton, NH, Elyza Goudreau of Colebrook, NH, Jacob and Jayce Barney of Groveton, NH, Gabby, Jolys, Sophia Cordero of Manchester, NH. Ralph was predeceased by his first wife Gloria Sweatt, a baby son, a granddaughter Miranda Sweatt, and daughter-in-law Nancy Sweatt. Ralph's sisters, Emily Cross, Rose Travers, Ruth Bean and brothers Harold Sweatt and Erwin Sweatt. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 24, 2018 at 11am at the Errol Congregational Church with Rev. Cindy Grassi presiding. Interment will be in the Errol Village Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday November 23rd from 5-7pm at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 313 Washington St., Suite 310, Newton, MA 02458. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Homes, Berlin and Gorham, NH.
