Peter T. Canning, avid dreamer, accomplished sailor and loving family man, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 3, 2015. He was 62 years young just entering his retirement. Born on April 30, 1953 to parents, Eva and Edward Canning. Peter grew up in Guilford Connecticut. After graduating from Guilford High School in 1971, he spent five years as an electricians apprentice. He was a hardworking man who put over 40 years in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 90. Peter was the quintessential kind-spirited and lighthearted being that anyone was blessed to know. He had an infectious laugh that will live on in his loved ones forever. He was a son, a brother, a friend, a husband, a father, an uncle and a beloved Papa. When Peter wasnt hard at work, he could be found on the water. He was a man of many hobbies, and enjoyed fishing, sailing, and spending time at his camp on the Androscoggin River in Milan, New Hampshire. He spent years competitively sailing in the East Coast Sailing Association (ECSA). In the summer he enjoyed relaxing on his boat with his family on Block Island, RI. He understood the value of taking it easy, as he always said, and was happiest when those around him were having a good time. Peter saw the potential and beauty in places most dont. He was a handyman who loved to tinker and could reinvent anything. He aspired to travel the country in an old blue Spanish church bus nicknamed My Hummer and gas guzzle his way around the USA. His sense of adventure kept him young in heart and spirit.
