Pauline M. Deschenes, 91, passed away on April 14th, 2019 from complications after surgery. She was born in 1928, the eldest child of Paul and Adeline (Arsenault) Remillard and was a lifelong resident of Berlin. She was a 1946 graduate of Notre Dame High School and was a switchboard operator before her marriage to Norman Deschenes in 1949. They spent 54 years together before his death in 2003. Pauline was a devoted mother, doting grandmother and caring great-grandmother. She enjoyed crewel needlework and proudly crafted beautiful Christmas stockings for all of her grand and great grandchildren and was a talented family seamstress when her four daughters were growing up. She took pride in her home and the delicious meals from her kitchen. She was a five time cancer survivor and an inspiration to many. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Doreen and Jeffrey Johnson of Greenwood ME, Donna and Paul Lapete of Berlin, and Denise and David Sawtelle of Littleton; seven grandchildren: Betsy Barton, Amy OBrien, Ryan Carrier, Vanessa Lapete, Sonya Sawtelle, Christina Sawtelle and Kirill Sawtelle; thirteen great-grandchildren with another due this fall; her sisters and brothers-in-law Lorraine and Ricky Gagne of Dummer, Arleen and Gerard Coulombe of Berlin and Leon Brassard of Bedford. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Norman, her daughter Doris, infant brother Richard, brother Robert Remillard and sister Jeannette Brassard. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 17th at 1 PM at Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave, Berlin with Interment to follow at St. Anne Cemetery. Per Paulines wishes there will be no calling hours. Donations in Paulines memory may be made to Androscoggin Valley Home Care Services, 795 Main St, Berlin, NH 03570. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Homes, Berlin and Gorham, NH. Messages of condolence may be shared online at www.bryantfuneralhome.net.
