Mr. Paul E. Pinette, age 75, of Berlin, NH, passed away on Wednesday June 25, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Berlin, NH on May 6, 1933 the son of Joseph L. and Eva (Metivier) Pinette and was a lifelong resident. Paul was a graduate of St. Regis Academy and Notre Dame High School with the class of 1951, where he was Valedictorian of his class. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed as General Manager and Executive Vice President for Morris Company, where he was employed for 30 years and was a licensed plumber and electrician. He served his community in many capacities including being a 32 year member and Distinguished Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Berlin, Inc. and was Past Lieutenant Governor; he served 18 years in the Boy Scouts of America where he was Assistant Scout Master, District Commissioner, was vice chairman of scouting for the Diocese of Manchester and was the holder of the St. George Award of Catholic Scouting Vigil of Honor of the Order of the Arrow. He was involved with community concerts for many years, he sponsored a girls broom ball team called Ps Powder Puffs, and was Santa Claus in the Parade of Lights in Berlin for 24 plus years. He served on the Board of Directors of the Guardian Angel Credit Union where he was secretary of the board and was past chairman of the board, served as a director of the Chamber of Commerce from 1984-1986, served on the Coos County Family Health Board of Directors and was a member of St. Anne Church, where he sang in the church choir. Paul was a 52 year member and former Vice Commander of the Ryan-Scammon Post #36 American Legion in Berlin. He had many interests which included being skilled in many areas including carpentry, plumbing and electrical and was an outstanding cook and had catered many functions. He enjoyed camping for many years at the Jefferson Campground. Members of the family include nieces and nephews including George Godin of Hampton, NH, Denise Lamontagne and her husband Larry of Nashua, NH, Mona Pinette and her husband Brendan DuBois of Exeter, NH and Susan Godin of Berlin, NH; Grandnieces Amy Millett and her husband Mike of Nashua, NH, Stacy Smith and her husband Kelley of Litchfield, NH and Krystle Godin of Kingston, NH; Great Grandnieces Haleigh Millett and Heidi Smith; sisters-in-law Jeannette M. Pinette and Lorraine B. Pinette, both of Berlin, NH; and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Vanetta Godin and by 2 brothers Roland R. Pinette and Raymond L. Pinette. SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday June 28,2008 at 1:00 PM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant St., Berlin. Interment will follow in St. Anne Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin, NH on Friday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
