Mr. Otis J. Bartlett, 90, of 2 Hitchcock Dr., Gorham, NH passed away on Friday morning January 11, 2008 at the Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin, NH.He was born in Berlin, NH on January 1, 1918 the son of Harry E. and Elsie (Lowell) Bartlett and was a lifelong resident of the Berlin-Gorham area. He was a graduate of Berlin High School in 1935. He served in the US Army during World War II in the Pacific area with the 672nd Amphibious Tractor Battalion. He had been employed by Brown Company as a Purchasing Agent for his entire working life. He retired in 1980. He was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, United Methodist Church in Berlin where he served as Treasurer, Sunday school teacher, custodian and served on the Board of Trustees. He was involved in the Berlin Chapter of the Elks, a member of the Lancaster Historical Society, the Pemigewassett Historical Society, the Bethel Historical Society and the Berlin-Gorham Historical Society. He was a noted local historian, had served on the Board of Directors of the Home Bank and served on the Selective Service Board. He also spent much of his retirement years visiting elderly people who were shut-ins and in the nursing home. He was an avid outdoorsman, participating in down hill and cross country skiing, hiking, fishing, camping and was an active member of the NH Audubon Society. Above all, Otis was a very kind and selfless person who always remembered his acquaintances, often sending them newspaper clippings he knew would be of interest to them. Members of the family include his wife Dolores (Mickey) Bartlett of Gorham, NH; 1 daughter Leslie Morrissette and her husband Steve of Gorham, NH; former son-in-law Steven McCosh of Berlin, NH; 2 granddaughters Kelly McCosh of Drexel Hill, PA and Karen McCosh of Daytona Beach, FL; 1 brother Warren A. Bartlett and wife Shirley of Lancaster, NH; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 15, 2008 at 11 AM at the United Church of Christ Congregational, Main Street, Berlin, NH. Interment will be in the New City Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
