Norman Chaloux

December 26, 1931 — April 15, 2017

Berlin, NH

Norman Chaloux of Champlain Street, Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Friend too many has taken the spiral staircase to his next journey.

Norman passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the age of eighty-five surrounded by his children. After ten rounds in the boxing rink with cancer he gave it the fight of his life, but the cancer never got the best of Norman.

Norman grew up in Berlin and was educated at Guardian Angel School, Class of 1951, after graduating he joined the Army National Guard for fourteen years. Norman was an active physical fitness man, enjoyed bike riding and weight lifting up until very recently. You could always find Norman walking, shoveling, getting coffee at Dunkin Donuts, playing cribbage, bowling, gambling and dancing on the Gorham Commons with a his dear friend Lucille Lavoie; he never let his illness hold him back. He lived his life to the fullest, you could always find a smile on his face and a laugh in his personality, he was a great man.

He loved traveling with his wife Millie to Hawaii and Florida, they also enjoyed going on cruises, but what he most enjoyed was spending time with family at Old Orchard Beach, 3rd hole and South Pond. Our dad was a true family man. He took great pleasure in taking his son-in-law Marks money (The big Teddy Bear) in cards. But as Norm said he may get it back some day.

The Most memorable memory many have of Norman was his courageous and selflessness saving of the Roy family along with many others in the East Side Fire in 1973, he knew people were in the engulfed homes and needed to get them out. He is a true hero.

Norman worked for James River Paper Company retiring after forty-two years. Prior to James River he was a beer delivery man alongside his brother Pat whom he cherished. He would never think twice of carrying two kegs, one on each shoulder at a time. He was truly a strong man.

Norman leaves behind his children, daughter, Darlene Miller and her husband Mark of Berlin, NH., Son, Wayne Chaloux and future wife Molly of Gonic, NH., Son, Timothy Chaloux of Milan, NH and daughter, Patricia Derosier and husband Duane of Danbury, NH.; ten grandchildren, Eric, Chris, Marcie, Krystal, Sarah, Marina, Sean, Alayna, Nadine and Skylor; eleven great-grandchildren, Jayden, Haylee, Alexis, Colt, Olivia, Kitana, Hayden, Macailie, Baylee, Cabin and Xavier.

Norman is predeceased by his parents Medric and Nellie Chaloux, brother Patrick and wife Lucille, sister Theresa and brother-law Speed Rousseau and his loving wife Millie of fifty-five years whom he has missed dearly for three years.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Town and Country Motor Inn, Shelburne NH. Prior to the service there will be visiting hours from 11:00am til 1:00pm.
