Nancy C. Philbrook, 86, of Shelburne, NH passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at the Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation Center in North Conway. She was born in Bangor, Maine on November 17, 1921 the daughter of Lawrence E. and Helen M. (Day) Philbrook and has resided in the area all of her life. She was a graduate of Gould Academy in Bethel, ME and the University of Maine at Orono. She was a member of the Gorham Congregational Church, UCC and a 65 year member of the Winthrop Grange in Shelburne. Nancy had been employed as a Research Chemist for the Brown Co. She was owner of the Philbrook Farm Inn where she spent many years cooking wonderful things for her guests and neighbors. She was a member of the Shelburne Planning Board, a past President of the Gorham Womens Club, and member of the Supervisor of the Checklist Committee for 48 years. She was also member of the AOPi Sorority. She dispensed love and compassion with as much care as she baked her cakes and pies. Nancy had offered her home to various groups for meetings and fundraising events. She had a great love for horses and gave riding lessons. Members of her family include her sister Constance (Philbrook) Leger, a niece Ann Leger, a nephew Lawrence Leger all of Shelburne, NH; and cousins. A private family service will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2007 at home in Shelburne, NH. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the Wheeler Cemetery in Shelburne. Anyone who wishes may make a donation in Nancys memory to the Lawrence E. Myer Drive, Suite 1300, Arlington, VA 22209; Financial Agent for the NH Preservation Alliance. Arrangements are by the Bryant Funeral Home in Gorham, NH.
