Mary Elizabeth Chappell

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Collins) Chappell, 87, of 721 Fifth Ave., Berlin, NH passed away on Sunday January 16, 2011 at her home. She was born in Berlin, NH on July 19, 1923 the daughter of Alphonse and Margaret (Blaney) Collins and was a lifelong resident of Berlin. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1941 and retired from the State of NH Health and Human Services Dept. in 1990 after 35 years of service. She was very proud of her French Canadian heritage and was a lover of French Canadian and Irish music and played both the piano and the accordion. Mary was a lifelong parishioner of St. Kieran Church. She was an avid reader and animal lover and always had a cat by her side. Members of the family include her husband of 65 years Frank H. Chappell of Berlin, NH; her daughters Susan Rouse and husband James of Long Beach, CA and Melissa Baur and husband Gerald of Long Beach, CA; sister-in-law Felice (Heroux) Collins of Berlin, NH; nephews Daniel Collins and wife Judy and their children Sean, Amy and Daniel; Barry Kelley and wife Elaine and their children Siobhan, Quinn, Brynna and Devin; and Mark Kelley and wife Kathleen and their children Eoghan, Eamon, Aobhinn and Eileen; cousins George Collins, Rita Collins Theresa (Collins) Smith and Yvonne (Collins) Pelchat. She was predeceased by her brother Raymond Collins and her sister Evelyn (Collins) Kelley. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday January 21, 2011 at 4 PM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin, NH. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 2 to 4 PM. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
