Mary A. Bergquist, 96, of Berlin, NH passed away on Monday January 20, 2014 at the St. Vincent de Paul Rehab and Nursing Center in Berlin. She was born in Cascade-Gorham, NH on May 4, 1917 the daughter of Giovani and Philomena (DAlphonso) Dalphonse and graduated from Gorham High School with the Class of 1936. She moved to Berlin in 1945. She was a member of the Gorham Alumni Association, St. Kieran Church, St. Kieran Altar Guild and MESH Club. Mary was a member of Ryan Scammon Unit 36 American Legion Auxiliary and served as President of Unit 36 from 1972-1974 and served for many years as Secretary-Treasurer. She worked for First National Super Market until it closed in 1975 and worked for Prescott Farms until her retirement in 1979. Family includes her sons Melvin Bergquist, Jr. and Richard Bergquist, Sr. and his significant other Gail Bisson of Berlin; grandchildren Brian Bergquist of Los Angles, CA, Wendy Bergquist of Nashua, NH, Richard Bergquist, Jr. and fiancee Lisa White of Berlin and Amy Bergquist of Manchester; a great-granddaughter Adrianna; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Melvin Bergquist, Sr., in 1989 and a grandson Scott Bergquist in 1977. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 25, 2014 at 10 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Friday evening from 7 to 9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Activities Fund, 29 Providence Ave., Berlin, NH, 03570.
