Mrs. Martha R. Comtois, 89, formerly of 224 High Street, Berlin passed away on Wednesday April 20, 2005 at the Coos County Nursing Home. She was born in Bingham, ME on March 17, 1916 the daughter of John and Evie (Powell) Redmond. She had been employed by Grants in Skowhegan, ME and moved to Berlin in 1937. She had been employed as a sales clerk at the Book Store in Berlin, the Hall of Greetings and then at Gills Flowers. She was a member of the Ancient Order of Hybernians, the Womens Aglow, St. Kieran Church, now known as Good Shepherd Parish, was a charter member of the St. Kieran Altar Guild and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Kieran. Members of the family include 2 daughters Mrs. Jane Lavigne of Milford, NH and Mrs. Paula Tourangeau and her husband Kurt of Center Ossipee, NH; 2 grandsons Frederick John Lavigne of Laguna Beach, CA and Michael Peter Lavigne of Orange, Ca; 3 granddaughters Jillian Lavigne of Nashua, NH, Lorie Couture of Bedford, NH and Jodi Ayers of Portsmouth, VA; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Paul C. Comtois and 2 sisters Mary Stuart and Jessie Hunnewell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday April 23, 2005 at 11:00 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be in St. Kieran Cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Friday afternoon from 3 to 5 PM.
