Marcel L. Couture, 85, of Prospect Street died in the evening of Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin.

Born on December 31, 1925 in Bromptonville, Canada, he was the son of Alphonse and Josephine (St. Pierre) Couture.

Marcel married Annette M. Chalou on October 4, 1947. During WW II, Marcel served in the United States Army as a mortar gunner and participated in the Rhineland Campaign. He received a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and several other medals for his acts of valor.

He was employed at Lessard Construction as a heavy equipment operator prior to his retirement.

Marcel was an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting & fishing, walking in the woods and the mountains. He was also a handyman and could repair anything and everything. He had a great sense of humor he was always smiling and joking.

He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the Fraternal Order of Eagles serving as president in the 1970's.

Besides his parents, he is pre-deceased by a son Roney Couture, two daughters Janet Couture and Karen Morton, a brother Raymond Couture and sister Rita Pinard.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Annette (Chalou) Couture three son: Terry Couture and his wife Carol of Longwood, Fl, Wayne Couture of Franklin, NH, and Jerry Couture of Berlin, NH; three daughters: Shirlene Couture of Gorham, NH, Linda Villard and her husband Charles, Jr., of Coventry, CT, and Pamela Tardif of Ashland, NH; two brothers: Maurice Couture and his wife Pierrette of Berlin, NH, and Joseph Couture and his wife Denise of Tampa, FL; Twelve grandchildren: Michelle Lattier, Christopher Guay, Jarod Guay, Charles Villard, III, Scott Villard, Jason Couture, Brandyn Morton, Crystal Tardif, Cheatham Tardif, Nicholas Couture, Samuel Couture, and Aleesia Couture. Seven great-grandchildren: Madison, Avery, Zander, Jannah, Jayse, Peyton, and Declan. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Tuesday, May 29 at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Kieran Cemetery in Berlin.

Calling hours will be held from 2-8pm, Monday, May 28 at the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin, NH.
