Lucie P. Gagnon

d. February 1, 2014

On the evening of February 1, 2014, Lucie passed away in an accident at Success Pond, NH. Lucie was 58 years old and a loving and beloved wife, mother, sister, memere, aunt, friend and so much more. Lucie Gagnon was born in Berlin, NH on December 14, 1955. She was the daughter of Jeannette and Albert Trahan. She was the youngest of twelve siblings. A life-long resident of Berlin, Lucie grew up on the east side of town where she spoke French at home until she attended Angel Guardian School. As a child she kept busy with paper routes, picking blueberries, tending the garden, and enjoying life with her 11 siblings. She attended Notre Dame High School for three years until it closed and then graduated from Berlin High School in 1973. She met her husband during her high school years and they married on May 4, 1974. In 1976, they welcomed their daughter Laurie into their lives and their son, Michael at the end of 1978. Always quick with numbers, she worked for many years as a teller at Berlin City Bank until taking a job in the business office of Coos County Nursing Home, where she worked for over 15 years. Her family and friends were a big part of her life. Already an Aunt by the age of 4, her nieces and nephews always brought her joy. At weddings, anniversary and graduation parties, and on vacations, she enjoyed her time with family. She loved spending time at her camp at Success Pond with family and friends where she was a much-loved member of the Pond community. She was known for delicious crepes and meat pies and taking care of the crew that was there. She loved a good game of scrabble, walks down the stretches, pizza and a martini on a Friday evening in summer, being out in the kayaks or paddleboat, and much more in a place where Life is Good. Lucie is survived by Richard E. Gagnon, her husband of over 39 years; her daughter Laurie A. Gagnon and her boyfriend Seth Maleri; her son Michael R. Gagnon and his wife Candice and their children Ashtin and Coralena Gagnon; 11 sisters and brothers and their spouses including Louise & George Palmer, Albert & Joanne Trahan, Pauline & Fern Hamel, Rita & Roger Rodrigue, Lucille Fontaine, George Trahan & Amy Phiel, Frank & Anita Trahan, Rolland & Sue Trahan, Rachel Elkins & friend Bob, Claudette & Paul Labbe, Suzanne & Bill Garneau; 2 in-laws and their spouses, Butch & Bev Gagnon and Darlene & Mitch Belanger; dozens of nieces, nephews, and their children; and many dear friends. Lucie was preceded in death by her mother, who passed away in 1968, and her father who passed away in 1979. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday February 5, 2014 at 10 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., on Tuesday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of ones choice.
