Lionel A. "Choo Choo" Caron

Lionel A. Choo Choo Caron, 86, of Berlin, passed away on Thursday December 17, 2015 at the Coos County Nursing Home. He was born in Berlin on May 5, 1929 the son of Thomas and Ida (Marois) Caron and lived most of his life in Berlin. He attended St. Regis Academy, the Marists Brothers Seminary in Tyngsboro, MA and graduated from St. Dominics High School in Lewiston, ME with the Class of 1947. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, now Good Shepherd Parish, and was a lector and Eucharistic Minister. He served with the US Navy for nine years and had served a four year term as a councilman for Berlin. He was past president of the Holy Name Society, a past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Berlin, a past NH state president (and a past NH state vice president) of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, a past president of the Lions Club, a member of the White Mountain Post #2520 VFW and a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a past president of the St. Vincent de Paul Center. Before his retirement, he owned Choo Choos Restaurant. His greatest enjoyments in life included serving God by being very involved with activities in the church, serving the Berlin community and enjoying his family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Olive M. (Lessard) Caron; one son, Marcel L. Caron and his wife, Anna, of Derby, VT; three daughters Jeannette L. Coulombe and her husband, Adrien, of Berlin, NH, Claire P. Blanchette and her husband, Raymond, of Berlin, NH and Pauline T. Aube and her husband, Marc, of Springfield, VT; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Blanchette and siblings Cecile Lyzohub, Robert Caron and Richard Caron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday December 21, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
