Lillian L. Peabody

July 21, 1944 — January 15, 2020

Lillian L. (Lowe) Peabody, 75, passed away after a brief illness on January 15, 2020, two days before her husband Ernest E. (Brother) Peabody. Lillian was born in Berlin, NH on July 21, 1944 to Maude and Glenn Lowe, Jr. and was raised by her grandparents Ernestine and Glenn Lowe, Sr. in Randolph, NH. She graduated from Gorham High School and married the love of her life, Ernest E. Peabody in 1962. They had four children. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Family and friends meant everything to her. As a stay-at-home Mom, she not only raised her children but welcomed in neighborhood children. As her family grew up and expanded, she drew everyone together with her famous Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with four generations together this past year. She adored her grandchildren and they, her. She was especially devoted to her husband Ernest caring for him during a long period of declining health.

As her children grew, she dove into her passion for wall-papering, painting and refinishing woodwork and was renowned for her attention to detail. She was a very talented crafter and delighted in hosting the “sip and stitch” weekly gathering of friends. Lillian was a talented cook most famous for her jams and pies from her raspberry patch, canned vegetables that Ernest grew and her Norwegian Christmas baking.

Lillian was also a dedicated volunteer. She was a long-time 4-H leader, judged fashion review at Lancaster Fair, taught countless youth and adults the art of sewing and baking. Besides family, St. Paul Lutheran Church was her greatest passion where she was the Sunday School Secretary, Treasurer and craft group leader for the Christmas Fair for many years. One of her proudest accomplishments were organizing the Norwegian Meat Cake Supper fundraisers which were a beloved ritual for both the volunteers and diners for many years.

Lillian was predeceased by her parents and grandparents and brothers Lawrence, Leonard, Charles, David, Calvin, Robert, Vernon Lowe and sisters Jean, Barbara and Virginia. She is survived by her children: Cyndi Paulin and husband Mark, Ken Peabody and partner Sarah Sember, Chris Peabody and wife Diana, Jennifer Charron and husband Steve; grandchildren: Matthew Paulin and wife Emily, Olivia (Paulin) Carvalho & husband Aaron, Mike Charron and fiancé Michaela Roberts, Heather Charron & partner Ben Lacasse, Aaron Peabody & wife Liz, Amanda Peabody; great grandchildren: Rowan Charron and Calvin Paulin and her sister Joyce Chaffee. She left behind many cherished friends and extended family but was especially close with Joyce Douglass, Jan Eastman and Andrea Philbrook.
