Leonard B. Hanson

Mr. Leonard B. Hanson, 78, of Dummer, NH passed away on Saturday evening March 14, 2009 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, NH. He was born in Woburn, MA on June 25, 1930 the son of Bertil B. and Carrie (Nielson) Hanson and grew up in Billerica, MA and attended schools there. He then entered the US Air Force and served in Korea, during the Korean War. Leonard married Marcia Burrows on March 14, 1953. He worked in the Massachusetts area until his retirement from M.I.T. in 1990 and then moved to Dummer upon his retirement. Leonard was a member and chairman of the trustees at the First Baptist Church in Berlin, NH and had volunteered over 4000 hours at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. Members of the family include his wife of 56 years Marcia (Burrows) Hanson of Dummer; 3 sons Richard B. Hanson and his wife Lana of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Ronald W. Hanson and his wife Kristen of Scarborough, ME and Robert R. Hanson of Dummer 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Herman Hanson of Pelham, NH and Herbert Hanson of Port Charlotte, FL; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and an infant son. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning March 18, 2009 at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church Berlin, NH. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin, NH on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Interment with military honors will be in the Gibson Cemetery in Pelham, NH on Thursday March 19 at 11 AM.
