Mr. Leland A. Campbell, 87, of 228 Milan Hill Road, Milan, NH passed away on Thursday December 8, 2005 at the St. Vincent de Paul Healthcare Center in Berlin. He was born in North Bancroft, Maine on June 5, 1918 the third child of Joseph and Geneva (White) Campbell. He married Alta Gould in 1940. They lived in New Jersey for 6 years and moved to Milan, NH in 1946 and have resided there since. He was a mechanic who worked for many years for E.C. Stiles and Son, he was self employed in Milan as L.A. Campbell Garage and John Deere Dealer and later for The Auto Mart until he retired. He was a boat inspector for the State of NH for 12 years. He was a member of the Giddeons, a member of the Community Methodist Church where he served on the administrative board, was a trustee and a Sunday School Superintendent. He enjoyed boating, fishing, people and especially children. Members of the family include his wife of 65 years Alta (Gould) Campbell of Milan, NH; a daughter Alison Belanger and her husband George of Hillsboro, NH; 2 sons Gary Campbell of New Johnsville, TN and Craig Campbell of Milan, NH; 4 grandsons Kevin Belanger, Randall Belanger, and Russell Belanger all of Hillsboro, NH and Chad Campbell of Goffstown, NH; 1 great-granddaughter Tearyn of Hillsboro, NH; 2 brothers Philip Campbell of Freeport, ME and Blaine Campbell of Tophsam, ME; 5 sisters Doris Burnie of Freeport, ME, Freda Oliver of Lisbon Falls, ME, Mary Guliskis of Gray, ME, Joan Ouillette of Brunswick, ME and Glenna Bewer of Portland, ME; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers Sgt. Russell Campbell, Alwyn Campbell and Reginald Campbell and 2 sisters Lelda Carr and Thelma Sidell, a daughter-in-law Virginia (Laplante) Campbell, a granddaughter Stephanie Campbell and a grandson Kendrick Belanger. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday December 11, 2005 at 2:00 PM at the Milan United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Milan. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, NH on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to the Milan United Methodist Church or to Special Olympics.
