John A. Scarinza, 75, of Cape Coral, FL and formerly of Berlin, NH passed away peacefully with members of his family at his side on Thursday, June 6 after a brief stay at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida. John was born in Summit, NJ, the son of John & Ellen Swanson Scarinza. He attended local schools and upon graduation from high school, attended AFL-CIO Building Trades School specializing in estimating, blueprint reading and building construction. He spent seven years working for others as an apprentice carpenter, learning the building trade before joining with a partner and starting a residential construction business. In 1970, John and his family moved to NH where he started his own construction company focused on residential and light commercial projects in the Berlin-Gorham area. In 1984, he joined Maple Leaf Construction Company of Nashua, NH where he rapidly rose through the ranks, becoming Vice President of Estimating. In 1994, John joined the estimating department at Pro Con Construction in Hooksett, NH where he worked until his retirement in 2006. In 2008, John and his wife moved to their current home in Cape Coral, Florida. John enjoyed spending time with his friends and loved ones and spent his summers at the family camp on Lake Umbagog and during the winter, he enjoyed traveling and spending time in the Bahamas. He was a gifted woodworker, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and cooking. John served as Chairman of the Berlin Zoning Board, Trustee of the Berlin and Concord Fraternal Order of Eagles, Past President of the Lions Club in Passaic Township, NJ, Past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Concord, NH and Trustee of the Moose Club in Cape Coral, Florida. John leaves behind his wife of 39 years Carolyn (Gosselin) Scarinza, his sons, John K. Scarinza and fianc Jennifer Barton, Randolph,NH, Jeffrey Scarinza and wife Raina, Bow, NH, daughters Susan Marmer and husband Gary, Dorset, VT, Kathryn Howland and husband Bill, Spokane, WA. He also leaves Carolyns children Donna Morin and her companion Duane Sudol, Hookset, NH, Brian Saucier and wife Jennifer, Concord, NH. John also had 6 grandchildren, Whitney, Danielle, and Abigail Marmer, Austin and Blake Scarinza and Devyn Saucier. Calling hours will be on Friday June 21st from 7:00 to 9:00pm and Saturday June 22nd from 9:00am to 10:30 at Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, NH. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home after Saturday mornings calling hours at 10:30am.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, Florida 33909.
