Mr. Jean Ronald "Red" Frechette, 79, of Cary NC passed away on September 17, 2017 at Raleigh Rehabilitation and Health Center after a long illness. Red is survived by his daughter Denise MacMillan and her husband Bill of Cary, NC, son George Frechette and his wife Davila of Upton, MA, brother Richard Frechette and his partner Mary Ellen Zizis of Campton, NH, sister Lorraine Mulvoy of Naples, FL, sister Delores Redmond of Hendersonville, NC, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Kim, his parents John and Rose (Parent) Frechette, his sister Rita Perrault, and his brother Raymond Frechette.

Red was born at home in Berlin NH on February 9, 1938. He graduated from Notre Dame High School where he played on the Notre Dame High School hockey team that won the 1957 New England Interstate Tournament in Providence RI with a score of 7-0. He continued to play hockey while serving with the Army in Alaska. After the Army, Red returned to Berlin to work at the Brown Company, and then moved to Ashland MA where he met and married Kim. Red worked at the General Motors Assembly plant in Framingham until it closed in 1989 and he retired. He returned to Berlin after living for several years in Milford MA, and later moved to Bellevue NE followed by Cary NC where he lived for the last 10 years of his life.

Red was a friendly and gregarious man. He was a wonderful storyteller, regaling his family and many friends with a multitude of stories of his adventures growing up in Berlin, playing hockey, and his time in the Army. He was also a talented bowler and pool player. He was an avid and loyal fan of the Boston sports teams: the Bruins, the Patriots, and the Red Sox. He was a lively conversationalist with a wide range of interests, especially sports, current events, and history.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Annes Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant St, Berlin NH at 10am on Monday October 23, 2017 followed by interment with military honors at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Guests are invited to join the family for lunch afterwards at the Dairy Bar in Berlin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Reds memory to the Berlin Corps of the Salvation Army.
