Mrs. Jane (Valley) Ouellet, formerly of 275 Finland St., Berlin, NH, passed away on Saturday afternoon June 28, 2008 at the Coos County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown, NH following a long bout with Alzheimers. She was born on July 27, 1921 in Berlin, NH the daughter of Joseph and Ruby (Smith) Valley and lived in Berlin most of her life. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1940. For 18 years, she worked at the J.C. Penney Store and later owned and operated the Simon Davis Smart Shop and Labnons Department Store and retired on October 18, 1976. Her many interests included board member of the Salvation Army since 1976 and many years at its chairman. She also chaired all of the following: VFW Post # 2520 Auxiliary, Coos County Republican Womens Club, Northern Lights, Womens Club, Berlin Business and Professional Womens Club. Her main interest was entertaining people and she was a master chef. Some of her guests were George Bush, Gov. Mel Thompson, new industrialists in Berlin, etc. She was a member of Good Shepherd Parish. Mrs. Ouellet is survived by her husband Leo Ouellet of Berlin, NH; one sister Catherine Knights of Bowie, MD; a sister-in-law Irene Markovich of Berlin, NH; a stepson John Ouellet of Londonderry, NH; a stepdaughter Paula Dzioba of Fremont, NH; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Adams and by two brothers Joseph and David. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning July 2, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin, NH. Interment will be in St. Kieran Cemetery next to her parents. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 PM.
