Mr. J. Alfred Morneau, 89, formerly of 109 Hillside Ave., Berlin, NH passed away on Monday evening May 3, 2010 at the St. Vincent de Paul Rehab and Nursing Center in Berlin. He was born in Berlin, NH on May 6, 1920 the son of Telesphore and Mary (Gilbert) Morneau and has lived in Berlin most of his life. He was a graduate of Berlin High School with the class of 1939. Prior to his retirement in 1983, he was employed as a First Class Millwright and had also been employed by Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT. Alfred was a member of Good Shepherd Parish. His memberships included Union Local #75,the Millsfield Club and when the Credit Union was started, he was a member of the first supervisory committee. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, picking berries and watching sports. Alfred was a wonderful husband, and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Members of the family include his wife Mary (Shopiak) Morneau of Berlin, NH; two daughters Ann Gosselin and her husband Roland of Berlin, NH and Rita Ketay and her husband Elliott of Lyme Center, NH; a son John Morneau and his wife Pamela of Brunswick, ME; seven grandchildren Kevin Gosselin of Rochester, NH, Brian Gosselin of Milton, NH, Jake Odell of Albany, NH, Kristen Getbehead of Marietta, GA, Josh Odell of Gaithersburg, MD, Aaron Morneau and Jared Morneau, both of Brunswick, ME; seven great grandchildren Jordan Gosselin and Andrew Gosselin, both of Rochester, NH, Elizabeth Gosselin of Milton, NH, Sophia Odell and William Odell of Albany, NH, Wesley Rodgers-Odell of Gaithersburg, MD and Dena Getbehead of Marietta, GA; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers Edward, Paul, Laurier and Norman; and by two sisters Agnes Provencher and Doris Curran. SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 1:00 PM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, NH on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Anyone who wishes may make a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Rehabilitation and Nursing Center Activities Fund, 29 Providence Avenue in Berlin or to a charity of ones choice in his memory.
