Irene M Vaillancourt

Irene M. Vaillancourt, a longtime resident of Riverside Drive passed away unexpectedly Sunday Morning (August 10, 2014) at Androscoggin Valley Hospital. She was 93.

Born on June 22, 1921 in Cascade, NH, she was the daughter of John and Boleslawa (Palowski) Malasky.

Irene grew up in Cascade and attended Gorham High School.

On August 31, 1952, she married Lionel E. Vaillancourt. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage until his passing on Nov 11, 2003. Together, they raised 4 sons and a daughter.

Irene was formerly employed in the storeroom at Brown Company and was a member of Local 75.

She was a communicant of St. Kieran's Parish in Berlin now St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish.

Irene was an avid gardener. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Besides her husband, she is pre-deceased by brothers, Chester, Clem, Charles & Alex Malasky and sisters Sally Knighton, Rudja Blanchette, and Millie Merrow.

She leaves her children Gail Fried and husband Richard of Upper Saddle River, NJ, Gary Vaillancourt and wife Linda of Berlin, Denis Vaillancourt and wife Andrea of Keene, NH, Mark Vaillancourt of Pueblo, CO, and Brian Vaillancourt and wife June of Windham, NH.

Nine grandchildren Jamie Dennison, Daniel Fried, Calvin, Shaun, Jacob, Ashley, Brook, Alexandria, and Isabella Vaillancourt.

A sister Sophie Riendeau of Cascade, NH. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Saturday, August 16 at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Church in Berlin. Burial will follow at St. Kieran's Cemetery in Berlin.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4pm & 6-8pm Friday August 15 at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin, NH.
