Inez (Nutbrown) Hamlin

Inez (Nutbrown) Hamlin, 94, of Berlin, passed away on Wednesday February 24, 2016 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital. She was born in Whitefield, NH on July 20, 1921 the daughter of Harold C. and Lila (Perkins) Nutbrown and lived in Berlin most of her life. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1939 and then from UNH with a degree in Library Science. Inez had been employed by the Berlin Public Library, retiring in 1986. She attended the Gorham Congregational Church, was a member of the OES in Berlin where she served many years as Ruth, was a member of the Berlin and Gorham Womans Club, the AVH Hospital Auxiliary and helped with the Blood Mobile. Inez was a charter member and had been the treasurer of the Berlin Historical Society. Family includes her daughter Janice Gessewein of Centreville, VA; grandchildren James and Kurt Gesswein, Diana Morello and Trina Fontneau; great grandchildren Amber Gesswein, Aaron Gesswein, Aidan Gesswein and Jacob Fontneau. She was predeceased by her husband Oscar Hamlin and a daughter Judith (Hamlin) Sutera. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday March 6, 2016 at 2 PM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. Interment will be in the Lary Cemetery in Gorham. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 5-7 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
