Herbert A. Downs

Herbert A. Downs Jr., 75, of Milan, NH, passed away on June 14, 2022. He was born on March 25, 1947 in Rochester, NH, the son of Wilma and Herbert Downs Sr. Herbert grew up in Milton, NH, and, prior to his retirement, was self-employed as a captain, running a charter halibut boat in Alaska.



Herbert served in the US Army for over 15 years, where he was the recipient of a bronze star, as well as two purple hearts. Upon discharge, he worked as a helicopter pilot in Houston, TX, and in Alaska. Herbert moved back to New Hampshire twelve years ago, and most recently resided in Milan.



Family includes his sons, Christopher Downs of Sanbornville, NH, and Derek Downs of Rochester, NH; his daughters, Carolyn Francis of Waterboro, ME, and Leah Downs of Dover, NH; many grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
