Henry J. Bertin of Berlin passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Vermont. He was 94 years old.

Born in Berlin on October 9, 1922, he was the son of Alphonse and Ida (Houle) Bertin. He attended school in Berlin. He married Madeleine Rheaume and together they raised two sons. He was a devoted Catholic and was a Communicant of St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish.

He served in the Army during WWII, in the 66th Black Panther Infantry Division, CO. D-366 Medical Battalion; he also assisted the medics in treating and transporting the wounded in the battle fields in Northern France. After returning home he was employed for 43 years at Brown Company as a powerhouse operator until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the VFW Post # 2520 as well as a member of the DAV. Prior to serving in the Army he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps with an Honorable Discharge in 1940.

Henry will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His greatest love was his family; he was a very loving, caring and devoted, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed cross country skiing, gardening, square dancing, bowling, going for long walks and working around his camp. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, some of his fondest memories were when he accompanied his brother-in-law Leo Cloutier in the press box and he met and enjoyed the company of many plays such as Ted Williams and Casey Stengel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Madeleine a son Roger and two brothers Albert and Leo Bertin and a sister Laura Cloutier.

He is survived by a son, Robert Bertin and his wife Diane of Berlin; Grandchildren, Randy Bertin and his family Karen, Michael, Matthew, Ryan and Patrick; Joey Bertin and family, Christelle, Bella, Christian, Isaiah and Cruze; Christina Bertin and fianc Norman Tregenza, and several nieces and nephews

Friends and relatives may call on the family on Friday, May 12th from 6:00pm til 8:00pm at St. Anne Church, Pleasant Street, Berlin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Mt Calvary Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to Warriors 45 North at PO Box 132, Pittsburg, NH 03592. Attention Mr. Philips. Their mission: Providing care and rest through outdoor activities at NO cost for Active Duty, retired, and anyone who has served in the Armed Forces, supervised by Veterans!
