Harvey Joseph Martineau

Gorham, NH

Harvey Joseph Martineau of Alpine Street in Gorham passed away, following a short illness, on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital. He was 93.

Born in Hardwick, VT on March 14, 1923 he was the son of Seraphin and Pauline (Spaulding) Martineau.

During World War II, Harvey served in the US Army and participated in the 3rd Wave of infantry at the Battle at Normandy and marched the streets of Paris during the liberation of the city.

On August 29, 1986 he and Theresa (Berthiaume) were married. They spent their years together living in Gorham. They enjoyed traveling to Florida and camping in Canada.

He was a self-employed Logger as well as working in the Shipping Department at James River Corporation. After retirement he was employed by White Mountain Lumber Co and also worked for the Forest Service repairing signs.

Harvey was a talented wood craftsman and enjoyed building wishing wells which he created for all his family throughout NH, ME, VT and Canada.

Besides his parents he is predeceased by two step children Donald Leborgne and Suzanne Patry ; a son-in-law Larry Boucher; two brothers and two sisters.

He leaves behind his loving wife Theresa of Gorham, NH; a son Denis Martineau of Gorham, NH; a daughter Suzanne Boucher of Berlin, NH; a step-son Paul Leborgne and wife Celine of Berlin, NH; Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a son-in-law Michael Patry and wife Darlene; three sister Mary Jewett of Center Conway, Annette King and husband Robert of FL, and Nancy White and husband William of Lyndonville, VT; close friends Pierre and Denise Morris of Canada and some nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at St Kierans Cemetery, Berlin, NH. There will be no calling hours, at Harveys request, so family and friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
