Giovanna Saladino

Giovanna Saladino, 91, passed away peacefully Friday, June 21, 2013. Born in Sicily, Italy, Giovanna and her son, Michael, came to the United States in 1955, aboard the Andrea Doria. Living in the North End of Boston, then moving to Medford, Mass., Giovanna worked as a seamstress with Wardrobe Makers until her retirement in 1987. Her retirement years were spent doing those things that she lovedgardening, sewing, cooking and baking for her family and friends. Her pizzelles were always a big hit at her sons restaurant. Gardening was an art for Giovanna, and her tomatoes were beyond compare! Giovanna was predeceased by her husband, Michele, three brothers and three sisters. She leaves her son, Michael, and his wife, Sylvia of Gorham. Grandson Matthew and wife, Gina, of Gorham, granddaughter Angela of Raleigh, NC. She was also blessed with three great-grandsons, Bailey, Brendan and Jack, whom she enjoyed immensely. She leaves many nephews and nieces and cousins in Sicily, Italy and Toronto, Canada. A Service for Giovanna will be held Thursday June 27th. Calling hours will be on Thursday morning from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade St., Gorham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 1 PM at Holy Family Parish, Church St., Gorham. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery.
