Germaine Boucher

Germaine Lea Dubois Boucher died at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012. She was 98 A years old and most recently was a resident of St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Home in Berlin. Germaine was born on Dec. 1, 1913 in Berlin, New Hampshire the daughter of Joseph and Alice Dubois. She was one of nine daughters and she attended Berlin schools. On April 23, 1934, she married Edward Boucher of Berlin. Together, their children included Richard, Gerard, Ronald, Pierrette, and Denise. She was a homemaker for many years and later in her life worked for Granite State Rubber Company as a stitcher for 18 years. She retired in 1976. She enjoyed volunteering for many organizations in Berlin including the Senior Meals site, the Holiday Center, RSVP, Ladies of St. Anne, MESH, the Blessed Mother of Immaculate Conception, a member of Marie Rivier Association, and as a volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Home where she resided. She enjoyed arts and crafts during her life working on many knitting projects which she donated to local charities. She treasured her memory of traveling to the Shrine of Fatima in Portugal and her visit to Vatican City in Rome where she was able to see Pope John Paul XXIII. She treasured her family and was always ready to talk about special memories with the many friends she had in Berlin. Even in her later years, she was well able to recollect details of family stories from many years ago. She is survived by her son Richard Boucher and wife, Joanne, of Manchester, New Hampshire, her son Gerard Boucher and wife, Joanne, of Chicopee, Massachusetts, her son Ronald Boucher and wife, Karen of Marietta, Georgia, her daughter, Pierrette (Boucher) Gorman and husband, John of Pensacola, Florida, and her daughter, Denise (Boucher) Marois and husband, Dan, of Poland Spring, Maine. Surviving grandchildren include, Donna St. Cyr and husband, Fred, of Manchester, NH, Jim Boucher and wife, Christine, of Smyrna, Georgia, Michelle Woodward of Chicopee, Massachusetts, Matthew Boucher of Chicopee, Massachusetts, Danielle Hardin of Pensacola, Florida, and Katie Marois Nadeau and husband, Will, of Woburn, Massachusetts. She is survived by five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by two sisters, Lorraine Dadano of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Veronica Cate of Yorba Linda, California. She is predeceased by her husband, Edward Boucher and sisters, Jeanette Couture, Irene Duquette, Vivian Landry, Louise Proulx and Claire Houle. She is survived by many cherished friends whose kindness will always be remembered. Germaine's family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Home for the exceptional care she received there in her final years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 7 at Holy Family Church in Gorham, NH. Burial will follow at St. Kieran Cemetery in Berlin. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin, NH.
