George R Harrington

Gorham, NH

George R. Harrington of Keenan Street, Gorham, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Junction, VT. He was 79.

Born on August 26, 1936 in Londonderry, VT, he was the son of Raymond E. and Nola D. (Johnson) Harrington.

He graduated from a Military School in Vermont.

George served in the US Army during the Korean War.

He worked many years for Pike Industries where he was employed as a truck driver, following that he worked for Walmart which he later retired. He was a life member and Vice President of The Gorham Historical Society where he was the curator for the train museum and he was a member of the American Legion Post #82 in Gorham.

George and Lucienne enjoyed traveling, especially to the Sea Coast in New Hampshire and Maine. He and his wife shared many hobbies together, one of their most cherished was making their gardens, flowers and vegetables; they canned and shared with family and friends. He also enjoyed going fishing and being outdoors, he had a great love for model trains which he shared with his grandchildren; together they played with them and watched them for endless hours. George also collected Gems and Minerals, which brought them on trips to excavated mines in Maine.

Besides his parents, he is pre-deceased by two brothers; Keith and Kenneth Harrington; and his brother-in-law Ryland Spaulding, a step-son Ronald Roy, and a step-son-in-law Clayton Roy.

He leaves behind his wife Lucienne M. (Bourassa) Harrington, of thirty years, of Gorham; a daughter Nancy Walker and husband Christopher of Lake Luzerne, NY; grandchildren, Trevor and Katelyn; step-grandchildren Christopher and Nicholas; a sister Janice Spaulding of Texas; and her daughter Ellen; a step-son Steve Roy and his wife Kristine of Gorham and two step-daughters; Joanne Roy of Berlin and Janice Leeman and husband Al of Rochester, NH. Many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday, February 12th at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin. Military Honors will be held immediately following the mass. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date. There will be no calling hours.
