George Arsenault

George R. Arsenault, 85, husband of Isabelle (Bergeron) Arsenault, passed away on Wednesday, January 24th, at the St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Home.



Born in Berlin NH on November 28, 1932, he was the son of Albert and Mathilda (Lemieux) Arseneau, both of Berlin.



George attended the St. Joseph parochial school and graduated from Notre Dame High School, class of 1951. He was a veteran of the Korean War, and upon his return, worked at the Brown Company/James River Corporation, where he remained for 43 years working as an Instrument Technician. He was active in local politics and served on the city council from 1982-1984. He was on the Industrial Committee for eight years, and on the Bedco Committee for four years, and also was President of the Association of Power Engineers for 1 year. He was a devout Catholic, and served for 12 years on the St. Joseph Council, where six of those years he served as President. He was an active volunteer for 18 years at St. Joseph Church and at the Good Shepherd Parish, serving as Sacristan, Altar Server, and Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister. He was a regular volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Berlin. George was a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW.



George is survived by his wife of 62 years, and by his six children; Lena and her husband Dennis Robert of Nashua, Robert and his wife Pauline of Berlin, Irene and her husband Wes Kelso of Las Vegas, NV, Leo and his wife Laurie of Berlin, David and his wife Jane of Randolph, and Marc of Berlin. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, five great-granddaughters, and by one brother, Larry Arsenault of Laura, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers, Albert Arsenault Jr. of Berlin, and Raymond Arsenault of Windsor Locks Connecticut; two sisters, Pauline Gauthier of Lake Havasu Arizona, and Theresa Dupont of Berlin, and by his parents, Albert and Mathilda Arsenault of Berlin.



Visiting hours will be from 10:30am to12:30pm on Friday, January 26th, at the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street in Berlin.



A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 26th at 1:00pm, at the St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish on Pleasant Street in Berlin.



Interment will follow at the St. Anne Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy in his memory are asked to consider a donation to St. Anne's Catholic Church, Pleasant Street, Berlin NH 03570.



Arrangements are in care of the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home.
