Francis Pelchat

Francis J. Pelchat of Iceland Street, Berlin died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, NH following a period of declining health. He was 91.

Born on October 16, 1923 in Gorham, NH, he was the son of Omer J. and Ida B. (Gilbert) Pelchat.

Francis grew up in Gorham and attended Gorham schools.

During World War II, he served in the US Army Combat Engineers and received several medals and commendations for his service.

He was employed at the Brown Company in the beater room and retired from the Company under the ownership of James River Corp after 39 years of service.

In addition to working at the papermill, he owned and operated Francis Auto Repair for more than 30 years.

He was past commander of the Berlin Disabled American Veterans Post and a life member of Berlin VFW Post 2520.

He was a communicant of Good Shepherd Parish and volunteered at the VFW bingo.

Besides his parents, he is pre-deceased by an infant son, brothers Maurice J. Pelchat and Omer J. Pelchat, Jr., and sisters Rita Croteau and Jeannette Accardi.

He leaves a brother Ralph J. Pelchat of Battle Creek, MI, a sister Anita Cooper of Gorham, brother in laws George and Roger St. Amant both of Berlin. Many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Monday, March 2nd, at Holy Family Church in Gorham, NH. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 2-4pm Sunday, March 1st at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin, NH.
