Evelyn M. Ross

Mrs. Evelyn M. (Farrar) Ross, 86, of 29 Jewell Street, Gorham, NH passed away on Sunday morning, December 21, 2008 at her home. She was born in Bethel, ME on August 20, 1922 the daughter of Ernest and Mildred (DeMeritt) Farrar and has lived in Randolph and Gorham, NH all of her life. She attended two years of high school in Whitefield, NH, graduated from Gorham High School in 1939, and has since been a member of the Alumni Association. She attended Mary Fletcher School of Nursing in Burlington, VT. She loved dancing, and enjoyed teaching others. She held dance classes and recitals in both Berlin and Gorham and is remembered by many for having taught them ballroom dancing, ballet, and tap. She was a member and former president of the Dupont-Holmes Post #82 American Legion Auxiliary, a former member of the Gorham Womans Club, a life member of the Gorham Historical Society, and a former member of the Randolph Home Demonstration Group. Evelyn was an avid bird watcher, had a passion for gardening, and loved all things related to nature. Above all, she was devoted to her family. Members of the family include a son Robert Ross Jr. and wife Robin of Randolph, NH; three daughters Lynn Sullivan of Berkeley, CA, Angela Russ and husband Louis of Morgan, VT and Christina Ross and former husband William Phelan of Gorham, NH; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Robert F. Ross, Sr., by a sister Elva Holt, by a brother Almon Farrar, and by one granddaughter. SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 26th at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade Street, Gorham, NH. Interment will be in the Lary Cemetery in Gorham. In memory of Evelyn M. Ross, donations may be made to a scholarship fund for her granddaughters and sent to Woodlands Credit Union, 730 Main Street, Berlin, NH 03570.
