Ethel M. Hawkins

Mrs. Ethel M. (Pilgrim) Hawkins, 93, formerly of 143 Madison Avenue, Berlin, NH passed away on Tuesday July 11, 2006 at the Hanover Hill Health Care Center in Manchester, NH. She was born in Berlin, NH on Aug. 13, 1912 the daughter of Frederick and MaryAnn (Cutter) Pilgrim and had lived most of her life in Berlin. Mrs. Hawkins was a graduate of Berlin High School with the class of 1931. She had been employed for many years by F.W. Woolworth Co. as a clerk in Berlin and worked with her husband Gordon at craft shows throughout New Hampshire. She was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and was very involved in activities at the church. She was very well known for her custom knitting and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. Members of the family include a daughter Janice (Hawkins) Devine and her husband John of Londonderry, NH; a son Ronald Hawkins and his wife Cheryl of Coventry, CT; 4 granddaughters, 1 grandson; 6 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon S. Hawkins on Feb. 24, 2000. SERVICES: A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 15, 2006 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, NH. Interment will be in the New City Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, prior to the service. Anyone who wishes may make a donation in her memory to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Berlin.
