Ernest Allain, 93, of Berlin, passed away on December 25, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family. Ernest was born in New Bedford, MA on June 27, 1925 the son of the late Francois and Helen (Melanson) Allain, was educated in the Berlin schools and spent the majority of his life here. He had been employed by the Brown Company and James River Corporation as a Rigger. After his retirement he was employed at Gills Flower Shop and Munces Quick Stop. Ernest was a member of Holy Family Church and was a United States Navy World War II Veteran. One of his favorite and well known past times was fixing baseball gloves and attending youth sporting events. Members of the family include his son Peter Allain and wife Sandy of Berlin; Lisa Fournier, fiancee of his late son, Ernie; grandchildren Brian Allain, Holly Allain, Greg Allain and wife Gabi, Jeff Allain and wife Jessica, and Kim Lapointe and husband Patrick; 5 great grandchildren; sister Priscilla Landrigan of Berlin; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ernest was predeceased by his wife Laura (Kelly) Allain, son Ernest F. Ernie Allain, and by siblings Henry Allain, Pauline LHeureux, Doris LHeureux, Blanche Roy and Cecile Allain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at 10 AM at Holy Family Church in Gorham with interment to follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Tuesday January 1, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes may make a donation to BHS Athletics in c/o Kim Lapointe, PO Box 31, Berlin, NH, 03570.
