Elwood M Searl, Jr

Berlin, NH

Elwood M. "Al" Searl, Jr., of Abenaki Lane passed away unexpectedly early Sunday Morning (July 18, 2010) at Androscroggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. He was 81.

Born on December 20, 1928 in Marlboro, Mass, he was the son of Elwood M. and Dorothy (Codner) Searl, Sr.

He grew up in Marlboro, Mass and attended Massachusett Schools.

At age 17, he enlisted in the US Navy and was a veteran of World War II. Moving to Berlin in the early 1970's, he was employed as a tool and die maker at the Berlin Foundry for many years.

He was a life member of the Berlin VFW Post # 2520 and was a former member of the Berlin American Legion. He enjoyed fishing.

Besides his parents, he is pre-deceased by a step-daughter Laura Hawkins and sisters Marion Bissonnette and Marilyn Urato.

He leaves his wife Jeannette A. (Guilmette) of Berlin, NH

3 sons: David Searl and his wife Maureen of Marlboro, MA, Kevin Searl and his wife Elizabeth of Worcester, Ma, and Peter Searl and his wife Helen of Erie, PA.

2 Daughters: Deborah Donohue of Shrewsbury, Mass and Ellen Searl of Charlton, Mass

Step-children: Carol Philbrook and her husband Norman of Chichester, NH Ann Arsenault of Berlin, NH, Keith Arsenault and his wife Vicky of Lyman, Maine, And Kenneth Arsenault and his wife Crystal of Berlin, NH.

17 Grandchildren, 10 Great-Grandchildren, Several nieces & nephews

A brother-in-law: Ronald Bissonnette of Massachusetts.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm Thursday, July 22 at the family plot at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Berlin. There are no calling hours.
