Elizabeth Betty (Potter) Drew, 81, passed away on October 6, 2013 in Manchester, NH. She was born on October 24, 1931 to Dean S. and Verna (Coolidge) Potter in Gorham, NH. She graduated from Gorham High School in 1949 and from Plymouth State College in 1953. Betty taught Business Education for 34 years, including in Lisbon for one year, Littleton for one year, Gorham for 28 years and in Berlin for 4 years. She retired from Berlin High School in June of 1987. She married Edward Drew on November 25, 1954. While at Gorham, she served as President of the Local Teachers Union, including the schools of Dummer, Errol, Jefferson, Gorham, Milan, Randolph and Shelburne. She served on the Gorham School Board for several years in the 90s. She was a member of the New Hampshire School Board Association for several years. She served on several building committees, the superintendent and the Police Chief search committee. She was a founding member of GRSEF (Gorham, Randolph, Shelburne Education Foundation) and served as Treasurer for many years. She was a member of the AVRE (Androscoggin Valley Retired Educators) and served as treasurer for many years. She leaves her husband of nearly 59 years Edward Drew; her brother Robert Potter of Randolph, NH and her sister Linda Gordon of Jefferson, NH. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Anthony Potter. She also leaves several young people who made their home with them for many years. One of these young people predeceased her - Robert W. White. SERVICES: A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday October 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Gorham Congregational Church, UCC. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the Lary Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the GRSEF.
