Mrs. Elaine T. (Phelan) Nichols, 78, of 90 West Village Rd., West Milan, NH passed away on Friday evening Nov. 23, 2007 at St. Josephs Manor in Portland, ME. She was born in Berlin, NH on June 19, 1929 the daughter of George J. and Grace T. (Robinson) Phelan and was a lifelong resident of the area. Elaine attended Berlin High School and was a graduate of Mount Saint Marys in Hooksett, NH. She had been a member of St. Kieran Church, now known as Good Shepherd Parish and was a member of Pilot Grange #229 in Stark, NH, the West Milan Christian Women, and was a member of the Milan Chorus. Elaine was employed by the Department of Interior - Bureau of Fish and Wildlife and the Forest Service before joining the Farmers Home Administration as the County Office Clerk in Berlin, NH in 1983. Elaine later transferred to Lancaster and then back to the Berlin County Office where she completed her career as County Program Technician. She retired in 1994 with a total of 24 years of federal service. Members of the family include her husband Harris W. Nichols of West Milan; 2 daughters Cynthia Rand and her husband James of Scarborough, ME and Kathleen Agrodnia and her husband Michael of Yarmouth, ME; 3 grandchildren Aaron, Amy and Karen; 4 great grandchildren Sean, Abigail, Evelyn and Brady. SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning Nov. 28, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant St., Berlin, NH. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in West Milan, NH. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin, NH on Tuesday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
