Elaine J. (Holt) Smith, 71, of Gorham, passed away at home Friday April 6, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in Berlin on October 21, 1946 the daughter of the late Arnold & Hazel (Hawkins) Holt and resided in the area most of her life. Elaine worked for the State of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services for about 15 years, prior to which she was employed by the North Country Bank. She was a member of the Word of God Christian Church in Dummer. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and attending her grandchildrens sporting events. Elaine loved Jesus and her grandchildren dearly. Members of the family include her husband Ronald R. Smith of Gorham, son Russell Smith and wife Kathie Leclerc of Gorham, daughter Rhonda Holmes and husband Austin Buddy of Gorham. 5 grandchildren, Amber Smith, Tony Blanchard and wife Jordan, Blake Smith, Hayley Holmes and Delaney Holmes. 5 Sisters, Eunice Fontaine of Lancaster, NH, Janice Corcoran of Milan, Beverly Kennard and husband Greg of Tennessee, Linda Tennis and husband James of Dummer, Deanna Holt of Berlin; Brother Ira Holt and wife Louise of Gorham. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and many dear friends, too numerous to mention. She was predeceased by brothers Clyde Holt, Harlan Holt, Edward Holt and Raymond Holt. A Memorial Service will be held at the Word of God Christian Church in Dummer on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 10:30am. Interment will follow in the Willis Cemetery, Dummer. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin.
