Edwin Palmer

March 23, 1929 — November 11, 2017

Edwin (Eddie) Harold Palmer passed away on November 11, 2017 at St. Vincent De Pauls Nursing Center in Berlin. He was born in Wentworth, NH on March 23, 1929 to parents Alma Sutherland Palmer and Vance Alvin Palmer. Several years after his birth his parents divorced and Eddie and his older brother, Al and younger sister, Marion did not see their father again.

Additional tragedy struck this family when their mother, Alma, died of tuberculosis when Eddie was about 4-1/2 yrs. old. He and his siblings were placed in foster care with Mrs.Winnie Lupien in Woodsville, NH where they were in a very stable and loving family setting for 6 years. The siblings were removed from Mrs. Lupiens on Christmas Eve, 1934 and placed in separate foster care with multiple families for many years. Some years later, Eddies brother, Al was eventually able to locate both Eddie and Marion so all the siblings were eventually reconnected, but never reunited as a family unit.

Eddie was an extremely hard worker from an early age and had a successful career as a logging truck driver with the Silverman Company and the Brown Company. It was a family joke that he kept the first nickel he ever made.

He knew everything about the stock market and faithfully followed the news and political issues on TV. His favorite pastime was watching wrestling on TV.

When he retired from the Brown Company he became the unofficial taxi driver in Berlin, NH for many years until he became ill two years ago.

Eddie never married and had no children. He is survived by his brother, Al in Camarillo, CA and his sister, Marion in Bellefontaine, OH. In addition, he leaves a niece, Joan, grandniece Cheryl, and two nephews, Alan Palmer in Las Vegas and Scott Palmer in Weed, California.

The family wishes to thank all the staff at St. Vincents for their wonderful loving care of Eddie for the past year.

A memorial service will be held at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 2:00pm with Pastor Dean Stiles. Interment will be private at Foster Cemetery in the family plot in Wentworth, NH.
