E. Jean Fortin

E. Jean Fortin, 79, of Milan, NH passed away peacefully at home on September 1, 2014, due to complications of Alzheimer s disease. She was born in Derby, VT on April 13, 1935 the daughter of the late Forest and Mary C. (Plume) Shannon and graduated from Derby Academy. She came to Berlin to attend nursing school at the St. Louis Hospital and has resided in the Berlin-Milan area since. She later furthered her education and obtained her MBA from Plymouth State College. Jean had been employed as a Registered Nurse by Androscoggin Valley Hospital for 52 years, and had served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, was a long time 4-H Leader, was a former Past President of the Rebekah Assembly of NH, was a longtime volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Society and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Family includes her daughter Suzanne Maddalena and husband Shawn of Milan, NH; her son Christopher Fortin of Milan, NH; a sister Joan Tice and husband Robert of Derby, VT; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother Buddy Shannon. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday September 5, 2014 at 10 AM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. Interment will be in the Derby Center Cemetery in Derby, VT on Monday September 8, 2014 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holiday Center or the Humane Society.
