Dorothy (Ryan) Monahan, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday Oct 26, 2017 at the Berkeley Retirement Home in Lawrence, MA. She was born in Berlin, NH in 1927, the daughter of Peter and Marian (Dale) Ryan and sister of James and Robert Ryan. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1945 and then worked at the Brown Company. After her marriage to George Monahan, she resided in Brookline, MA for 30 years. Later in life they lived in Methuen, MA. Dorothy was a full time mother to her girls, then a secretary at All Saint's Episcopal Church in Brookline, and later at Borden Chemical of North Andover, MA. She is survived by her daughters: Lucy Regan (and husband John) of Peabody, MA, and Lynn Triplett (and husband Kevin) of Wrentham, MA. She has 4 grandchildren: James, Daniel, Rebecca and Andrew Regan, and one great-grandchild, John James Regan. She is also survived by 6 Ryan nieces and a nephew: Dale, Linda, Nancy, Sally, Anne, Betsy and Timothy Ryan, all originally of Berlin, NH. She has one Monahan niece, Patricia, daughter of the late James and Josephine Monahan of Bethel, ME. Dorothy was fortunate enough to have enjoyed a 90th birthday party a month ago, where she saw most of her family including cousins Polly Dale Birt and Nesta Dale Publicover of NH, their daughters, and cousin Diane Gavin MacDonald of Franklin, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Nov 2nd at 1PM at St Anne Church of Good Shepherd, 345 Pleasant St., Berlin, NH. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave, Berlin, NH on Wednesday afternoon from 4 6 PM or on Thursday from 12-12:30 PM, before the Mass. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Milan, NH where Dorothy will be laid to rest with her parents, husband, brother and many generations of the Dale Family.
