Dorothy J. Watson, 70, of Birch Grove in Gorham, passed away on Monday July 15, 2013 at her home with family by her side. She was born in Portland, ME on April 26, 1943 the daughter of the late Henry J. and Meredith L. (Remington) Arsenault and lived most of her life in Berlin, moving to Gorham in 2012. Dorothy attended the Vermont Community College for 2 years and the School of Lifelong Learning for 3 years and had been a teacher at St. Michael School for 21 years. She also taught Head Start for 7 years and operated her own nursery school for 4 years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Parish and had been very active with the Catholic church, having taught CCD and being a lector at St. Kieran Church. Dorothy had been a member of the Associates of the Presentation of Mary and the Mountain of the Lord prayer group under Reverend Maurice Lacroix. Members of the family include her husband Alton A. Watson of Berlin; children Catherine J. Arnault and husband Steven of Hampton, James A. Watson and wife Sue of Jefferson and Matthew M. Watson of Portsmouth and a nephew that she raised Nic Mello; 5 grandchildren; siblings Lorraine Dame and husband Lloyd of FL, Henry J. Arsenault of FL and Nancy C. Lawrence and husband Rene of Berlin; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter Julie Ann Roy in 2002, siblings Karen Ekstrom and Donna Patrick and nephew David Arsenault. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday July 19, 2013 at 10 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant St., Berlin. Interment will be in St. Kieran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade St., Gorham on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association or to a cancer fund of ones choice.
