Dorothy A. Dwyer, 89, formerly of Berlin, passed away quietly on Monday Sept. 24, 2012 in Memphis, Tenn. She was born in Berlin on July 26, 1923, the daughter of Oscar and Emma (Hamel) Gonya. Dorothy married Herbert Dwyer of Cascade and had been employed by Granite State Rubber Company for many years. They lived in Berlin until 1968 when they moved to Connecticut. Herbert worked in construction which necessitated her moving to be with him at his various locations which included Connecticut, Florida, Algeria and Borneo. While living overseas, they bought a house in Ft. Pierce, Florida in 1981. After Herbert died in 1991, Dorothy continued to live there until 2005 when she moved to Memphis to be near her daughter, Kathy. She lived comfortably in a retirement community until her passing. She is survived by 2 daughters and 1 son, Kathy Newbern and her husband Mike of Germantown, TN, Diane Laroche and husband Dennis of Berlin, NH and H. William Dwyer of Berlin, NH; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Ruth Cellupica and Pauline Blanchette, both of Berlin, NH; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Herbert Joseph Dwyer, a brother Joseph Gonya and a sister Doris Stalvey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday September 28, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Friday morning from 9 to 10 AM, prior to the Mass. Anyone who wishes may make a donation in her memory to the A.V. Home Care Services, 795 Main Street, Berlin, NH 03570.
