Donald D. Sweeney

Mr. Donald D. Sweeney, 79, of Berlin, NH passed away on Thursday May 5, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, NH. He was born in Berlin, NH on June 6, 1931 the son of the late Francis J. and Evelyn J. (Frazier) Sweeney and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Berlin High School and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He had been employed by Morins Shoe Store, Sampsons Market, Carriers Painting, the VFW in Berlin and was also a self-employed painter and sheet rocker. He was a member of the White Mountain Post #2520 VFW. Members of the family include daughters Rose Long of Dummer, NH, Angela Croteau of St. Johnsbury, VT, Kathleen Harvey of Berlin, NH and Jennifer Blair of Gorham, NH; son Daniel Sweeney of North Carolina; 9 grandchildren; brothers Frank Sweeney of FL, Robert Sweeney of CT, James Sweeney of Nashua, NH, Richard Sweeney of CA, Loron Sweeney of Nottingham, NH and Michael Sweeney of AR. He was predeceased by a sister Carolyn Basile. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday May 10, 2011 at 2 PM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM. Interment will be in the Russian City Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
