Donald Bouchard

Donald Bouchard, a lifelong resident of Berlin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital on Saturday, August 16, 2014. He was 87.

Born on September 25, 1926, in Berlin, NH, he was the son of the late Romeo and Eledianne (Beaulieu) Bouchard.

Donald attended local schools and continued to further his education by taking night courses in accounting.

In 1944, he enlisted and served in the US Navy during WWII spending much of the time stationed in Okinawa, Japan.

On July 29, 1950, he married Carmen Gagnon and together they raised six children.

He was employed at the James River Company as the Burgess Mill Maintenance Planner and retired after 42 years of service.

He was a communicant of St Anne Church of Good Shepard Parish in Berlin.

He truly enjoyed spending summers at the 'family camp' on Lake Umbagog. His favorite past times included boating, fishing, gardening and especially spending time with his brothers. He was an accomplished woodworker and hand crafted many items for family and friends. After he retired, he spent many years volunteering at the Food Pantry.

Besides his parents, he is pre-deceased by his daughter, Monique Bouchard; his brother, Gaston Bouchard; and his bother-in-law, Jerry Mangelsdorf.

He leaves his wife of 64 years, Carmen (Gagnon) Bouchard; two sons, Clement Bouchard and wife Shirley of Pembroke, NH and Denis Bouchard of Berlin, NH; three daughters, Jackie St. Onge and husband Claude of Berlin, NH, Colette Dudka and husband Stanley II of Bedford, NH, Rachel Rodrick and husband, Jon of Newbury, NH; ten grandchildren, Ryan Bouchard and wife Jen, Tim Bouchard and wife Diana, Keith St. Onge and wife Lauren, Kendra St. Onge and companion Steve Lessard, Stanley Dudka III, Krystyna Dudka, Kyle Rodrick and companion Cristy McGuinness, Derek Rodrick, Shauna Bouchard, and Ryleigh Bouchard; three great grandchildren, Grant, Avery and Lena Bouchard.

He also leaves behind a sister, Cecile Manglesdorf; three brothers, Rene Bouchard and wife Vicky, John 'Ki' Bouchard and wife Estelle, Conrad 'Babe' Bouchard and wife Shirley; his sister-in-law, Theresa Bouchard; Several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at St Anne Church of Good Shepard Parish in Berlin.

Calling hours will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 and Thursday 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin, NH.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Ecumenical Food Pantry, 153 Grafton Street, Berlin, NH, 03570 or to the Senior Meal Program at North Country Elderly Programs (NCEP), 610 Sullivan Street, Berlin, NH, 03570.
