Charles Arthur St. Hilaire of Kent Street Berlin passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. He was 87.

Born on February 13, 1926 in Berlin, NH, he was the son of Ernest and Eva (Hamel) St. Hilaire. He attended Angel Guardian School.

During World War II, he served in the US Navy. Upon honorable discharge, he received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Area Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal.

He was employed by the Brown Company as spare crew and retired from the James River Corp in 1986.

Charles was a communicant of Guardian Angel Church now St Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish.

Charles was loved by his family and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved hunting, gardening, and spending time at his camper in Vermont.

He is pre-deceased by a daughter Jeannette Tupick, a grandson Jeremy Tupick, a brother Robert St. Hilaire, and two sisters Florance La Fleur and Rolande Duchesne.

He leaves his wife of 65 years Clarisse (Bedard) St. Hilaire and sons Robert St. Hilaire and partner Norman Girouard of Shelburne, NH, Leo St. Hilaire and his wife Annette of Stephenson, VA, Roland St. Hilaire and his wife Nancy of Turner, ME, and Raymond St. Hilaire of Berlin, Daughters Claudette Tupick and her husband Michael of Berlin, NH, Lillian Buteau and her husband Emile of Berlin, NH, Irene Buteau and her husband Maurice of Berlin, NH, Lisa O'Neil and her husband Robert of Berlin, NH, and Susan Tardif and her husband Randy of Berlin,NH. 24 Grandchildren, 21 Great-Grandchildren, a brother Johnny St. Hilaire and his wife Shirley of New Hampshire, a sister Beatrice Lozier of Gorham, NH, and a sister in law Annette St. Hilaire of Stratham, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm Thursday, January 16 at St. Anne's Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Berlin.

Calling hours will be held prior to the Mass from 11:00am to 12:30pm Thursday, January 16th at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin, NH
