Cecelia Fortier

Mrs. Cecelia (Couhie) Fortier, 86, of 26 Laurel Street, Berlin, NH passed away on Monday June 19, 2006 at the Concord Hospice House in Concord, NH. She was born in Berlin, NH on Sept. 25, 1919 the daughter of Jeremiah J. and Rose E. (Keenan) Couhie and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Fortier was a graduate of Berlin High School with the class of 1937 and had been employed by NH Department of Human Services, retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Kieran Church, now known as Good Shepherd Parish, was active in volunteer work including Domestic Violence Task Force, the Androscoggin Valley Hospital Gift Shop and the St. Kieran Guest House. She was a past member of the St. Kieran Church Council and several committees within the church. Members of the family include 2 daughters Sherrill Turgeon of Concord, NH and Nancy Fortier of Seattle, Washington; 2 sons Steven Fortier and John Fortier, both of Anchorage, Alaska; 3 grandchildren Kristine Fay, Amy Turgeon and Lynn Turgeon, all of Concord, NH; 2 sisters Beatrice Dionne of St. Johnsbury, VT and Bernice Benjamin of Roanoke, VA; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Philip A. Fortier, who passed away on Feb. 17, 1993. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon June 23, 2006 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, NH. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 PM and on Friday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:30 PM, prior to the service.
