Carolyn Ogle (Hartman) Dorval

Berlin, NH

Carolyn O. (Hartman). Dorval, a longtime resident of Rockingham Street, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Androscoggin Valley Hospital surrounded by family. She was 85.

Born on September 14, 1930, in Pemberton, NJ, she was the daughter of Frank and Rhoda (Kinsley) Hartman.

On December 17, 1954, she married Joseph E. Dorval while stationed at Ft. Dix, NJ.

They enjoyed 60 years of marriage.

She earned her B.S. Degree in Nursing and was a Registered Nurse at St. Louis Hospital and Androscoggin Valley Hospital where she worked in Pediatrics, Medical Surgical Unit, and Mental Health. She was also a Nursing Instructor at the New Hampshire Vocational Technical College in Berlin.

Carolyn was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, she belonged to the VFW Post 2520 Auxiliary, she was an avid supporter of Berlin Youth Hockey, member of NH TOPS 57 Gorham and in 2004 she was NH TOPS State Queen. She enjoyed camping in Little Berlin, she use to like to go early morning pickerel fishing and late night hornpout fishing with Joe, she was always proud of the fact that she caught the biggest fish. She and Joe use to love camping at White Birch Campground in Shelburne where they always had their huge Fourth of July Celebration, she loved spending time with family and friends especially during the holidays. Her children will always remember every Saturday morning she would make them homemade bread and donuts. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye.

She was a communicant of St. Kierans Church now Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin.

Besides her parents, she is pre-deceased by her husband Joe who passed away in October 2015, her brother Charles William Hartman and sister Althea Fulmer.

She leaves behind two sons Joseph E. G "Jerry" Dorval, Jr. and wife Sheila of Standish, ME and Mark A. Dorval and wife Karin of Berlin; three daughters Darlene Hardy and husband Duane of Bradford, NH, Susan Dorval and husband Frank La Roche of Berlin, and Christine Langevin and husband Robert of Berlin; grandchildren Lindsey Dorval, Lacie Dionne and husband Josh, Christopher Adams and wife Katryn, Heather Langevin and companion Shayne Foley, Jaimie Stewart and husband Nick, Trennan Dorval and companion Susan Bard, Jonathan Langevin and companion Ellie Clauss, Ethan Dorval, Emma Dorval, and Owen Dorval; great-grandchildren; Khloe and Maddox Adams, Brielle Dionne, and baby William Joseph Stewart due to arrive in March 2016; a brother Frank Hartman and wife Mary of Jacksonville NC, several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 2:00pm to 6:00pm Thursday, February 18at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin, NH followed by a chapel service at 6:00pm.

Burial will be at NH State Veterans Cemetery on July 22, 2016.
