Beulah Cray Johnson, 100, of Gorham, passed away peacefully on Friday May 10, 2019 at her home. She was born in Malden, MA on April 29, 1919 the daughter of William and Lettie (Joudrey) Cray and moved to Gorham at an early age. She graduated from Gorham High School with the Class of 1937. She and Jon Percival Johnson were married in 1942. Jon passed away in October of 2000. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, reading, writing, the beauty of the mountains, hiking and skiing before rope tows and chair lifts. She loved to cook for family and friends and enjoyed visiting and helping elderly friends and neighbors. She was a member of the Gorham Congregational Church, UCC, for many years where she had served as Deacon and Trustee. She was an active member of the White Mountain League, a Past President and Secretary of the Dupont-Holmes Post #82 American Legion Auxiliary, receiving her sixty-five-year membership pin in 2011. She was also a member of the Ideal Rebekah Lodge and the Gorham Womans Club. In 2018, she was the recipient of the Boston Post Cane. She is survived by two sons Daniel Cray Johnson of Gorham and Nils William Johnson and his wife Lucille of North Beach, MD; two granddaughters Jillian and husband Peter W. Denk of Northville, MI and Jennifer and husband John Vollmer of Mechanicsville, VA; six great grandchildren Peter, Jr., Patrick and Nathaniel Denk, twins Jill and Josie and their sister Joy Vollmer. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday May 22, 2019 at 11 AM at the Gorham Congregational Church, UCC with Reverend William Jones officiating. Interment will be in the family lot in the Lary Cemetery. Donations in her name may be made to the Gorham Congregational Church, UCC, 143 Main St., Gorham, NH or the Conway Area Humane Society, PO Box 260, Conway, NH, 03818.
