Mrs. Barbara B. Church, 97, of Gorham, NH passed away at her home on Sunday evening April 27, 2008. She was born in Gorham, NH on September 9, 1910 the daughter of David O. and Annie J. (Williamson) Holmes and was a lifelong resident of the area. Barbara was a graduate of Gorham High School and Plymouth State College. She taught school briefly in Easton, Sugar Hill and Lisbon, and for many years in Gorham. A member since 1925 and former deacon of the Gorham Congregational Church, UCC, Barbara was also a member of the Congregational League, the White Mountain League, the Gorham Historical Society, the Androscoggin Valley Retired Teachers Association and a Life Member of the N.H. R.T.A. Barbara was a member and past President of the Gorham Womans Club. Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Andrew I. Church . She leaves behind a son Dr. David A. Church and his wife Diane of College Station, TX; two grandchildren Kirin A. Sparks of Addison, TX and Aran H. Church of Seattle, WA; two sisters Maria Webber of Windham, NH and Laura Wood of Alfred, ME; and several nieces and nephews. SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held on Thursday morning, May 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Gorham Congregational Church, UCC in Gorham, NH. Interment will be in the Lary Cemetery in Gorham. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade Street, Gorham, NH on Wednesday afternoon April 30, 2008 from 2 to 4 PM. Memorial gifts may be made in Barbaras name to the Memorial Fund of the Gorham Congregational Church or to Dollars for Scholars at Gorham High School.
