Antonio W Nadeau

December 23, 1929 — June 12, 2017

Antonio (Tony) Nadeau, 87, died unexpectedly at Androscoggin Valley Hospital on June 12, 2017. Tony was born in Berlin in 1929, the son of Adelard and Clara Gagne Nadeau. He graduated from Notre Dame High School and then from the University of New Hampshire in 1954, with a degree in French Language and Literature.

He was a proud member of the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1970, serving at stations in Texas, California, Minnesota, Japan, and Morocco. He did a tour in the Vietnam war in 1969, serving at the Danang Air Base.

After retiring from the Air Force with the rank of Major, he used his skills and talent in foreign languages to become a high school teacher of French and German. He taught in the Pittsburg, New Hampshire school department until his retirement, earning a reputation as a demanding but exceedingly fair and hard working teacher. Tony had a lifelong love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, but most of all contemplation in natures space. His walks in the woods were legendary among friends and family.

Tony is survived by his sister Juliette, as well as two nephews, Richard and Gordon.

He will be greatly missed as a man of limitless curiosity, exceptional principle, and enduring honesty.
